Alex Salvini ambassador in Kenya

Alex Salvini FIM Environmental Ambassador in Kenya
1 July 2014
Alex Salvini has just returned to Italy after an extraordinary experience in Africa. The 2013 E2 Enduro World Champion participated as FIM Environmental Ambassador together with the FIM delegation represented by Ms Kattia Hernández, Director of the FIM International Environmental Commission (CIE) & Mr Peter Gregory, Member of the CIE, to the United Nations Environment Assembly that convened in Nairobi, Kenya from 23 to 27 June.

More than 160 Member and Observer States were present as well as more than 1200 persons from different parts of the world.

UNEA is a newly constituted United Nations high-level platform for decision-making on the environment that is tasked with charting a new course for the way the international community addresses environmental sustainability challenges. For the FIM, this was a important opportunity to share the FIM Ride Green platform and all the Federation's environmental sustainability programmes in a major international forum beyond the sports community.

Alex Salvini, FIM environmental ambassador said: "I'd like to thank the FIM for the opportunity to live this unique experience. It was a great satisfaction for me to participate in a high-level meeting at the UN, and to be FIM spokesperson for Ride Green. Being an Environmental Ambassador is a new challenge. In off-road sport we live closer to the environmental impacts and it's important to continue to practice our sport in the respect of the environment. I'm proud to be part of the FIM Ride Green Program and to promote this campaign also through the participations to this events".

During the stay in Nairobi, the Team Honda Red Moto –Zanardo rider also had the occasion to make a short safari and to discover the incredible African nature.
